About Our Materials

We often get asked what type of material we use or what brand siding we have chosen to use so let us answer that right here for you: We use Certainteed Monogram Vinyl Siding, LP, & ASCEND Composite Cladding. Why is Certainteed Vinyl the siding we use? It’s the thickest siding in the industry at .046 and has the largest color selection available. The other consideration is that we don’t use fan fold insulation, we use Johns Manville 1/2 inch foil faced insulation. This provides an R3.2 U Factor as well as acoustic and moisture barriers. On top of being a better solution, it often qualifies for a tax credit.

What is Composite Cladding?

ASCEND® Composite Cladding is a premium exterior cladding option designed to enhance the aesthetic and functional appeal of homes. It combines the natural beauty of real wood with advanced material technology to deliver superior performance and durability. This innovative cladding system is made from a blend of glass-reinforced polymer and graphite-infused polystyrene, resulting in a lightweight yet robust material that stands up to the harshest weather conditions.

One of the standout features of ASCEND® Composite Cladding is its remarkable resemblance to natural wood. The cladding’s deeply embossed woodgrain texture and rich color palette offer a high-end, authentic wood look that adds elegance and sophistication to any home exterior. Unlike traditional wood, however, ASCEND® requires minimal maintenance. It resists common issues like rotting, warping, and insect damage, ensuring your home maintains its pristine appearance for years.

In addition to its aesthetic benefits, ASCEND® Composite Cladding offers excellent energy efficiency. The cladding system provides superior insulation, helping to reduce energy costs by maintaining a consistent indoor temperature. Its innovative design also includes UV protection, which helps prevent fading and keeps colors vibrant over time. With ASCEND®, homeowners can enjoy a beautiful, long-lasting, and energy-efficient exterior solution that enhances curb appeal and adds value to their property.

Vinyl Siding vs. ASCEND® Composite Cladding

Traditional Vinyl Siding

Pros:

  • Affordability: Vinyl siding is generally more budget-friendly, making it a popular choice for homeowners looking to improve their home’s exterior without breaking the bank.
  • Variety: Available in a wide range of colors and styles, allowing for customization to match different home designs.
  • Low Maintenance: Requires minimal upkeep, typically just occasional cleaning with a garden hose.
  • Durability: Resistant to common issues like rot, insects, and fading from UV exposure.

Cons:

  • Appearance: While improved over the years, vinyl can still sometimes look less like natural wood.
  • Temperature Sensitivity: Can become brittle in extremely cold weather and may warp or crack in high heat.
  • Potential Environmental Impact: Made from PVC, a type of plastic, which is less environmentally friendly compared to some other materials.

ASCEND® Composite Cladding

Pros:

  • Natural Appearance: Designed to closely mimic the look and texture of real wood, providing an upscale appearance.
  • Durability: Highly resistant to weathering, impact, and pests, with a long lifespan.
  • Low Maintenance: Similar to vinyl, it requires minimal maintenance, just occasional cleaning to keep it looking its best.
  • Energy Efficiency: Some composite cladding options provide better insulation properties, helping improve the home’s energy efficiency.

Cons:

  • Cost: Generally more expensive upfront compared to traditional vinyl siding.
  • Availability: May not be as widely available as vinyl siding, potentially limiting options for immediate purchase and installation.

Conclusion

Both traditional vinyl siding and ASCEND® Composite Cladding offer distinct advantages and some drawbacks. Vinyl siding is an affordable, low-maintenance option with a variety of styles, though it can be less durable in extreme temperatures and less environmentally friendly. ASCEND® Composite Cladding provides a high-end, natural look with superior durability and energy efficiency, albeit at a higher cost.

Another attractive choice is clapboard siding, which gives your home or office a classic look. If you prefer a more modern look, dutch lap siding or smooth siding may be a better option. If you want to create a rustic feel, wood grain siding or cedar shake siding would be ideal. Many of these options are on display in our projects gallery to help you find inspiration.

Liberty Siding and Windows also offers expert installation of vinyl trim, also known as flashing or window and door wraps, to customize your property’s look further. Benefits of Vinyl Siding

Vinyl siding is the go-to choice for many homeowners and businesses alike because it offers numerous benefits, including:

  • Superior Durability – Durability is key against harsh midwest weather conditions. Vinyl siding provides security and quality that you can trust.
  • Resistance against harsh winds – Vinyl siding can withstand winds up to 225 mph, providing superior environmental security against even the harshest winter winds.
  • Woodgrain texture – Natural woods can be expensive and don’t work for every structure. Using textured vinyl, this classic look can be achieved at a lower cost. Enjoy the same aesthetic with easier upkeep.
  • An easy upgrade to curb appeal – If you’ve got cracked or peeling paint, one easy way to increase your home’s value and curb appeal is to install vinyl siding. The crisp, clean lines of the new siding offer a sleek style upgrade.
  • Significantly lower upkeep – When compared to other materials, vinyl siding requires very little maintenance. Vinyl siding will last outside your home and look appealing year after year.
  • Protection from the sun – We offer Permahue® color enhancer for darker shades with ASA resin, and proprietary technology offers protection against sun and midwest weathering.
  • Strong Fit – Siding stays solid and secure with the Patented Pointe-Lock® System and the industry’s first rollover panel locking leg.
  • Eco-Friendly – Did you know vinyl, when sourced properly, is a sustainable choice? We provide safe, recyclable materials that can stand up against the harshest conditions. A win for you and the environment!
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty – What could be better than a limited lifetime warranty?

Many factors play into this, including the size of the project and the type of product being installed.
