Liberty Siding & Windows has been putting siding on houses across Lake and Porter counties for more than 30 years. We are family owned, we work out of showrooms in Crown Point and Hammond, and siding is the biggest part of what we do rather than a sideline to something else.

Most of our work is full replacement. The old siding comes off, we look at what is underneath, and the house gets an exterior that will outlast the one it replaced. We also take on smaller jobs: a wall that took impact damage, panels that pulled loose in a storm, a section that was never finished properly by whoever did it last.

What a siding job actually costs

There is no honest way to quote siding over the phone, but these are the things that move the number: the square footage of the house and how many stories it is, which material you choose since composite and engineered wood sit above vinyl, how much trim and soffit and fascia work goes with it, whether the old siding has to come off and what we find when it does, and the permit, which most towns around here require for re-siding.

Common questions about siding

Do you repair siding, or only replace it?
Both. Full replacement is most of what we do, but we also handle damaged walls, loose panels and sections that were installed badly the first time. We will tell you at the estimate which one your house actually needs.

How long does a siding job take?
For most houses it is a matter of days rather than weeks, though it depends on the size of the house and on the weather. You get a timeframe in writing with the quote.

Do I need a permit to re-side my house?
Most towns in Lake and Porter counties require a permit for re-siding, and several of them also require the contractor to be registered before they will issue one. We will tell you what your town asks for when we quote the job.

Do you take the old siding off?
Usually, yes. Taking the old material off is the only way to see the sheathing and the house wrap underneath, and problems hide there. We will tell you at the estimate what your house needs.

What about soffit, fascia and trim?
We do that work as well, and it is normally done at the same time as the siding. Replacing siding and leaving tired soffit and fascia behind tends to look exactly like what it is.

Do you do gutters?
No. Liberty does siding, windows, roofing, and soffit, fascia and trim work. We do not install gutters.
