Window and Siding Replacement in Valparaiso, IN

Valparaiso is a fifteen minute drive from our Crown Point Design Center, and it is one of the more varied places we work. Roughly half the homes in the city were built before 1980, and the single largest group went up in the 1990s. Those 1990s houses are now approaching thirty five years old, which is right about when the original builder-grade vinyl and the first generation of insulated glass start giving out at the same time.

The homes we work on in Valparaiso

North of downtown, the Washington Street area holds the city’s oldest housing, much of it mid nineteenth century through the early 1900s, in Italianate, Queen Anne, Craftsman and American Foursquare. Aberdeen, Manchester Meadows and the 1990s wave followed. Then Windsor Park, Beauty Creek, Emerald Ridge, Grande Prairie, Arbor Lakes, Prairie Ridge, Hawthorne, Mistwood and Sagamore filled in from the early 2000s forward.

If your home is in one of the historic districts, exterior changes visible from the street can require approval from the city’s Historic Preservation Commission before a permit is issued. We will tell you honestly whether that applies to your address before you sign anything.

What Valparaiso weather does to siding and windows

Valparaiso averages about 40 inches of snow a year, which puts it on the southern edge of the lake effect belt. It is the freeze and thaw cycling, more than the total, that opens caulk joints, backs out siding fasteners and breaks window seals over time.

Then there was August 11, 2026. The derecho that came through put Valparaiso and Porter County under a disaster declaration. Around 29,000 customers lost power in the 46383 and 46385 zip codes, the city hauled off roughly 300 tons of debris, and there were downed limbs and power lines reported near College Avenue and Union Street. If your home took wind damage in that storm and you have not had the exterior looked at yet, we will come out and inspect it.
